What people use blogging sites?

I am interested in how people use blogging sites. Is it to maintain contact with family and friends, meet new people, become an expert? What prevents you use? Is when you meet new people, see the comments back from others etc? Would appreciate any information you can provide on their personal experiences.

I use Myspace to talk to people, old i havent seen in years Friends and new friends alike. I am still using because I have lengthy conversations can lst anything from a few days a week. I prefer Myspace because I can edit my profile complete, I can play music, wallpapers and videos for all to see and then a separate section for pictures and videos I just want my friends to see.
