Commanding a staggering market capitalization of Rs 61 lakhs of rupees on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Indian real estate developers have come a long way. Most importantly, this volume of market capitalization as of the 14 companies listed real estate only, and muscle sector is very strong given the fact that about 300 real estate developers are listed on the exchange.
Interestingly, the market capitalization of India property sector is expected to increase in a phenomenon, according to investment institutions. According to reports of BSE in the current share of the property sector BSE is 5 per cent, which is far below global standards of 15 percent. Now that the Indian stock markets are in no way less than their global counterparts as Dow Jones, Kospi, Nikkie and Hang Seng, which is a globally recognized view that the Indian real estate sector, with all their potential and dynamic growth is expected expanding its base in the financial markets.
Real property investor's dream land
In regard to the prospects for investment, real estate index returns managed to clock up to 46.84 percent in the last year. The index, which hovers around 10,500 levels today, was recorded in 7218, February 05, 2007. And so not surprisingly, real estate India has emerged as one of the most favorite of investors today.
However, Indian companies investing in real estate has become too complicated in the volatile market conditions in the last three quarters. The property index showed variation of more than 100 percent between August 2007 and February 2008. The index, which reached peak 13,848 on January 08, 2008 was seen at a record low of 6485 on Aug 22, 2007. A period of just five months!
