I have done some actions with fake money and real stock prices for real tickers. I always end up making a profit. Now my parents are going to give me some money to prove it. I'm in high school and has much experience. How successful investors research? I'm not asking you to invest or how to get a definite advantage. I'm asking what I have to do on my own to choose the right investments.

Investing in "individual" stock takes a lot of knowledge and practice, so I would not recommend doing this until you fully understand how the stock markets. Vanguard.com is ideal for long-term investors who want to learn about mutual funds, index funds, and publicly traded funds (ETF). Trade is less risky funds to deal with trade "individual" stocks. Unless you plan to spend every day of your life looking at stock charts trying to determine the best time to get in and out of "individual" actions, which would be a kind of background.
