The actions and companies merging?

So in school we're playing the game the stock market, and basically, for those who do not know which is a simulation of the stock market. In our class, the winner does not have to take the final exam:) It is this company called Terra Nitrogen (TNH), which is owned Terra Industries recently merged with another company. TNH has been doing really well, and we are thinking of buying. However, it is wrong to buy a stock just merge with another company. Its action seems to be a good bet. Best answer will be chosen! It looks promising. I had a friend mention specific company for me as a good investment may, however, when I thought that only held in private. I can go buy some shares now that I know are public. Thanks for the information and best of luck in the game.
