Offset capital gains from sale of rental property with stock market losses?

My parents are retired and who have a 2nd property which have seen a little (more than $ 200 thousand). Is it possible to offset some of the gains from the sale of this property with the capital losses of negotiation actions? It is a capital gain or loss be considered the same regardless of the source is coming? If you have any links to articles that explain this process, please included. Thank you!

Yes, provided that both the stock market losses and the recognition of the property is long term (ie, owned by more a year and were paid in the same year).
